FC Mobile Beta Build a Guest Squad That Tests Ideas

PlayStyle identity, appearance limits, and role fit without live-club risk.

Squad Building

Squad building in the FC Mobile Limited Beta is a drafting exercise, not a market exercise. You log in as Guest, you accept whatever items the standalone app (com.ea.gp.fifamobilebeta) hands you, and you arrange them so Game Plans and Gauntlet Mode have something to say. There is no transfer market to fix a missing CAM. There is no Rank Up Token pile to push a 114 into a 118. In-game purchases are disabled. Progress does not carry over. That constraint is the guide.

This page walks through a practical XI, a four-slot Game Plan package, chemistry-like thinking without pretending the beta published a new chemistry manifesto, and the appearance budget that Gauntlet will punish you for ignoring. Pair it with the Players Hub for the Guest-versus-live split and the Rank Up guide so you do not spend live-code energy on the wrong club.

Step 1: name an identity, not an OVR target

Write one sentence: we attack with Rapid / Clinical Finisher / Incisive Through Pass, and we defend with Anticipate / Slide Tackle / Bruiser. That sentence is your filter. Every pack item either supports it, copies it for Gauntlet depth, or sits on the bench as a House Rule specialist (Dead Ball, Penalty Expert, Rush Out).

The PlayStyles tier list tells you which badges are S in H2H versus Gauntlet. The PlayStyles guide tells you what Silver and Gold actually do. Do not start seven different identities. A Guest club that tries to be Tiki Taka, Trickster, Power Shot, and Whipped Cross at once will feel like nobody has a PlayStyle.

Step 2: pick a primary shape that your items can actually play

Open the Formations tier list. If you have two strikers, 4-4-2 is the honest S pick — and it is the shape in EA’s official Game Plans screenshot. If you have a true CAM with Dead Ball, Driven Lob Through, or Finesse Expert, 4-2-3-1 Wide is legal. If you have Rapid wingers and a holding midfielder, 4-3-3 Holding is the cleanest way to test through balls.

Then save three more Game Plans around that primary, using the five official mentalities (Ultra Attacking, Attacking, Balanced, Defensive, Ultra Defensive). A working package:

  1. Balanced 4-4-2 (kickoff).
  2. Attacking 4-3-3 Holding (chase).
  3. Defensive version of your primary (protect a lead without a full rebuild).
  4. Ultra Defensive 5-4-1 Holding (close the match).

Overlap roles. The right striker should be able to play right wing. One centre-back should be able to play in a back five. One CM should be able to sit as a holding player. Mid-match switches are part of the feature EA is testing; out-of-position statues during the switch are how you concede. Details: Game Plans guide.

Step 3: chemistry-like thinking without a fake rulebook

Live Ultimate Team players are used to league and nation links, position modifiers, and rank colours changing how an XI “locks in.” The Limited Beta still rewards role fit even if you should not invent a chemistry formula EA did not publish in the August 2026 article.

Think in three layers:

  • Position legality. A player listed as ST will not become a centre-back because you need a fifth defender. Use natural or near-natural positions when you switch Game Plans.
  • PlayStyle legality. Rapid belongs on someone who carries the ball. Anticipate belongs on someone who stands in front of the ball. Dead Ball belongs on the person who stands over the free kick, not on a full-back who never takes one.
  • Line height legality. Accelerator without the ball is for runners who start behind the striker or overlap from full-back. Relentless is for people who will play the second Gauntlet match. Bruiser is for the duel you keep losing in the middle.

If two items are close in OVR, start the one whose PlayStyle matches the layer you are missing. That is chemistry-like thinking: the club becomes more than eleven isolated ratings.

Step 4: budget Gauntlet appearances before you fall in love with one XI

Gauntlet Mode runs in rounds. Each round is a set of matches with objectives, Traits, and House Rules. Each player item has a limited number of appearances. You progress by winning and earning Stars. Full write-up: Gauntlet Mode.

Build a second string that copies identities, not names:

  • Wide: a second Rapid or Accelerator item.
  • Box: a second Clinical Finisher or Finesse Expert.
  • Passer: a second Tiki Taka, Bullet Pass, or Incisive Through Pass.
  • Defence: a second Anticipate or Slide Tackle, plus a Bruiser body.
  • Keeper: a second Deflector if you have one; otherwise the next-highest OVR and accept the drop.

When a House Rule nerfs slides, your Slide Tackle starter sits and the Anticipate copy plays. When a Trait asks for set pieces, Dead Ball comes off the bench even if it is B-tier in open H2H. The appearance limit is the whole squad-building puzzle. A 130 OVR Guest XI that cannot field a round is a failed draft.

Step 5: leave live-club habits at the door

Do not wait for a redeem code to finish the squad. AUFGEHTS, NUMEROUNO, and CLEANSLATE — the late-August / 1 September 2026 live examples — apply to the live FC Mobile account via the EA redemption site. They do not stock Guest packs. NUMEROUNO’s Rank Up Tokens do not rank a beta item. Follow how to redeem on the live app; do not pause the beta for it.

Do not spend the test window min-maxing a single card’s rank colour. There are no in-app purchases to force that path, and the profile is deleted when the window ends (25 August to 13 September 2026 UTC). Spend the window on identities you want to remember.

A sample Guest draft (steal the method, not the names)

Attack: two strikers, one Clinical Finisher, one Rapid or Finesse Expert. Midfield: one Incisive Through Pass or Tiki Taka, one Bruiser/Anticipate holding player, one Relentless runner. Wide: Rapid plus a Whipped Cross or Accelerator copy for Gauntlet. Defence: Anticipate plus Slide Tackle centre-backs, Accelerator full-backs. Keeper: Deflector if present.

Play five H2H matches. If Driven Lob Through never completes, drop the high-line chase plan and keep 4-4-2. If you concede the same cutback twice, your full-backs lack Anticipate or your mentality is too high — fix the Game Plan before you swap five items. Then play one Gauntlet round with a rule: no item starts every match. If you cannot obey that rule, your club is a first XI, not a squad, and you need copies more than you need a higher OVR captain.

Quality-of-life checks before you queue

  • Confirm you are in the beta app, not live FC Mobile. Same sport, different package.
  • Confirm Guest, not a linked account you hope will persist. It will not.
  • Confirm your four Game Plans still match the items you actually own after the last pack.
  • Confirm controls so PlayStyles can fire.
  • Confirm access if a friend is still installing: how to download, getting started, beta access. Android countries for this window include Singapore, Malaysia, Canada, India, Romania, Argentina, Colombia, and Indonesia; iOS is TestFlight invites from official EA socials.

When a patch lands, reread what is new and Limited Beta notes before you rebuild from scratch. Most of the time you only need to retune one Game Plan slot or promote Relentless for a tougher Gauntlet round. The Tier List Hub is the grade sheet; this page is the roster sheet. Keep them in different mental tabs and the Guest club stays honest until 13 September 2026.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers testers actually search for.

What should I lock first, formation or PlayStyles?

Lock an identity (for example Rapid plus Anticipate), then pick the formation those items can play. 4-4-2 if you have two strikers, 4-2-3-1 if you have a CAM. Use the Formations tier list and the PlayStyles tier list together.

How do Gauntlet appearance limits change the draft?

Each player item can only appear so many times per round, so you need copies of your identities, not one perfect XI. Build a second Rapid, a second Anticipate, and a second passer. Rules are on Gauntlet Mode.

Is there chemistry in the Limited Beta?

Do not invent a formula EA did not publish in the Limited Beta article. Use chemistry-like thinking: legal positions, PlayStyles that match the action, and line height that matches Accelerator or Relentless. Role fit is the boost you can actually control.

Can live Rank Up Tokens finish a beta squad?

No. Rank Up Tokens from codes such as NUMEROUNO apply to the live club. The Guest profile cannot be topped up with IAP or live redeem. See the Rank Up guide and the codes hub.

How many Game Plans should a Guest squad support?

Four. Typical set: Balanced primary, Attacking chase, Defensive hold, Ultra Defensive 5-4-1. Overlap positions so switches do not leave players stranded. Walkthrough: Game Plans guide.
